Biography – Dr Michael Tagge, DPM

Minimally Invasive Foot Surgeon | PRISM™ Reconstruction System

Dr. Michael Tagge is a Chicago-based foot and ankle surgeon specializing in minimally invasive forefoot reconstruction and advanced, structured recovery protocols. He is the founder of the PRISM™ Reconstruction System—an integrated surgical approach designed to optimize healing, accelerate recovery, and improve long-term outcomes.

His philosophy reflects a fundamental shift in foot surgery.

While traditional approaches focus primarily on correcting the deformity, Dr. Tagge focuses on what ultimately determines success: how the body heals after surgery.

This perspective has shaped his practice into a more modern, patient-centered model—combining precision minimally invasive techniques with a concierge-level recovery process. The result is a surgical experience designed to minimize disruption to daily life, with many patients able to walk immediately after their procedure in a protective surgical sandal.

Dr. Tagge earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, where he graduated with honors and was inducted into the Pi Delta academic honor society.

He completed a comprehensive surgical residency in forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where he also served as Education Director of the podiatric residency program.

He is board certified by American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Podiatric Board of Functional & Regenerative Medicine.

Dr Tagge is on staff at Endeavor Northwest Community Hospital with privileges for foot surgery.

Prior to his medical training, Dr. Tagge built a strong academic foundation in research, contributing to work at institutions including Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and Loyola University. His research has been published in peer-reviewed literature, including the New England Journal of Medicine, reflecting early experience in high-level academic medicine.

Today, Dr. Tagge’s clinical focus is centered on treating:

  • Bunions
  • Hammertoes
  • Neuromas
  • Complex forefoot deformities

using refined minimally invasive surgical techniques.

His proprietary PRISM™ Reconstruction System integrates:

  • Precision minimally invasive correction
  • Regenerative biologic support
  • Intrinsic healing optimization
  • Surgical correction stability
  • Mechanical optimization

This comprehensive framework is designed not only to improve surgical precision, but to guide the body through a more controlled, efficient healing process.

Patients seeking Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery in Chicago and the North Shore—and increasingly from out of state—seek out Dr. Tagge for his specialized approach, which prioritizes:

  • Immediate protected weight bearing
  • Minimal scarring
  • Reduced postoperative discomfort
  • A structured, guided recovery experience

At the core of his work is a simple belief:
